Don Nance, Mayor

My Top Priorities...

The Safety of our Citizens and our Children.
It’s time to make our city safer. The West Monroe Police Department is alarmingly understaffed, and our crime rate is rising. Shootings are up, heroin and methamphetamines have flooded our city. Property crime is through the roof, and vagrancy is a major problem. Despite these frightening circumstances, the current administration closed the West Monroe City Jail. The mayor’s unfortunate decision has hindered our policemen, hindered the West Monroe court system, and hampered the work of our Marshall’s office. It’s time to make our city safer.

Clean Water.
It’s time to clean up our water. While working for the City of West Monroe, I listened to one citizen after another voice their concern about their brown water. I understand. The water at my house is brown too. I know what the problem is. More importantly, I know what the solution is. It’s time to clean up our water.

Rebuild our Infrastructure.
It’s time to rebuild our infrastructure. Our roads, sidewalks, sewer system, water lines, and drainage system is in dire need of repair. Unfortunately, the current administration has neither the equipment nor the manpower to address these vital needs. The West Monroe Public Works Department has suffered one staff reduction after another. Many of the tractors, trucks, trailers, and sweeper trucks are over twenty years old and in disrepair. We do not have the proper equipment to keep our city property maintained, It’s time to rebuild our infrastructure.

Leadership Focused on our Future

It’s time to change leadership. The current mayor is well aware of our rising crime rate, our understaffed police department, our brown water, and our deteriorating infrastructure. Yet, she is proposing that West Monroe build a Twenty Three Million Dollar sports arena that will cost one million dollars a year to maintain. We must be fiscally responsible, and I have a plan that will save the city millions of dollars. Sterlington went bankrupt a few years ago because of an outdoor sports arena. The state came in and took over their finances. This sports arena is a gamble with millions of tax payer dollars. That money is desperately needed for the city’s Police Department, Fire Department, and for equipment to maintain our city properly.

I ask for your support. Together we can set the course for the future of West Monroe. Thank you and God Bless.
